After reading Augmented Reality in the K-12 Classroom, I started exploring some potential apps that could be used in the secondary classroom and learning commons. Below, I will introduce each app, it's abilities and how I might use it as an educational tool.

HP Reveal (image scanner)

This app allows images to be scanned with any device. Teachers can assign actions for students to take when each image is scanned. This app could be used for orientation for new students to a school. I’m thinking this would involve a combination of touring the school, looking for certain images/characters which would then be linked to videos that contain information about the school. It makes the orientation more engaging and interactive. This could also be used for a learning commons orientation.

Wonderscope (story-telling app) This app allows stories to come to life and for students to interact with the characters and setting within the story. This could be used in any English or Social Studies classroom.

Shapes 3D This Apple app for students can be used to measure 3D objects in the real world. Students can also use the app to create objects in existing spaces. This would be a great tool to visualize what a space may look like renovated. This would be a great app to use for teaching math, geometry and trigonometry.

Snap Chat The use of filters are based on AR technology. Students place filters over existing images or in real time. Students can create multiple characters to write into their stories. Additionally, students can use the app to imagine (create) what they would look like as a character in a story.
