Chasing Love

Upon experimenting with Scratch Tutorials, I've managed to create a very simple chase game in which a butterfly chases the heart. While I spent quite some time watching different tutorials, there is still a lot I have to learn. First, I created two sprites, both hearts, to be chased by the butterfly. While the first heart maintained a normal speed, the second one was zapping in all directions every second. I couldn't quite figure out how to regulate it's speed so I stuck to one heart. My butterfly moves left and right quite easily, but it does not move up and down. This would be my next step to figure out. I did add some dialogue to the heart which I thought was fun.

As I am still quite new to my position and school, I am not sure what coding apps are currently being used. I will say if I were to use Scratch: Chase Game with my students, I would create a more detailed tutorial as I felt there were a lot of features that were not addressed. I feel there is a lot more potential with my Chase game, but I didn't feel like I knew enough about the tools to be able to use them. I'm also quickly realizing creating games is not one of my strengths, so I can see/understand how this could be a frustrating process for some students. This empathy is what makes me think I would create a more detailed tutorial for my students.
